Amazon UK to start charging for Super Saver Delivery again, minimum spend £10 for free service Jul 23rd 2013, 11:46

Amazon is to send out an email to all UK customers informing them that from today it will be withdrawing free delivery for orders under £10. Certain items are exempt from the new ruling, but those that aren't can only be ordered individually if you are willing to pay postage and packing.
Books, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, videogames and software will still qualify for free Super Saver Delivery even if they are below the £10 minimum spend. Everything else will not.
One loophole is that if an order includes one of the items that are exempt, you will still be eligible for free delivery. Amazon itself offers an example: "An order that includes a book for £3.49 and an HDMI cable for £4.49" will qualify, it says.
The retailer claims that by changing its delivery charging system, it will be able to offer a more diverse selection. "Whilst the change will affect only a very small proportion of orders, it will allow us to offer you a significantly expanded selection of lower priced products," it claims.
Amazon Prime, which offers free next day delivery and a host of other add-ons for an annual fee of £49, is unaffected.
